Big Impact in a Small Space: How Nisqually Post & Print Scaled Up with Kelley Create
Nestled on the Nisqually Indian Reservation in Olympia, Washington, Nisqually Post & Print is a tribally owned printing, shipping, and promotional company that proves size isn’t everything. Unless we’re talking about heart, hustle, or wide-format printers.
Led by Azure Wills, a 20-year print industry veteran and self-described “do-it-all” manager, the shop operates in a space so compact, Azure jokes that 800 square feet might be a generous estimate. But what they lack in square footage, they make up for in ambition, creativity, and a relentless drive to serve their community.
“We do big things in small, tight spaces,” Azure says. And she means it. With a team of four, Nisqually Post & Print has grown from a modest copier setup to a full-service print powerhouse with Kelley Create serving as a long-time partner in their growth.
The relationship began in 2020 with a simple postage meter. “We started with stamps.com and UPS drop-offs,” Azure recalls. “Then Nathan Bennett from Kelley Create came in, saw what we were working with, and helped us level up.”
That initial conversation sparked a transformation. Frustrated with their wide-format printer, Azure reached out to Kelley Create for a better solution. Enter the Mutoh hybrid wide-format printer. The Mutoh was a breath of fresh air. Unlike their previous roll-only printer, the hybrid model handles both roll and rigid materials. “We can do direct-to-metal prints, coroplast signs, foam core, polystyrene — you name it,” Azure says. “It’s allowed us to bring more work in-house, reduce turnaround times, and keep costs down.”
That’s especially important in a business that serves the tribal community. “Keeping tribal money on tribal lands is huge,” Azure emphasizes. “Being able to do more in-house means we’re supporting our community in the best way possible.”
While the Mutoh rarely needs attention, Azure is quick to praise Kelley Create’s service team. “We don’t see them often (and that’s a good thing), but when we do, they’re phenomenal,” she says. “It’s never a hassle. They’re just there, ready to help.”
With a busy summer of graduations, Fourth of July, and more, Nisqually Post & Print just wrapped its busiest season. “My Mutoh didn’t stop running,” Azure laughs. “We did banners, stickers, yard signs, and giant fatheads so parents can spot their kids in a sea of graduates.”
Through it all, Azure remains proud of the shop’s growth. “We’ve taken a small startup and made it something incredible,” she says. “We’re serving our community, doing projects we never thought possible. And Kelley Create helped us get there.”
