5 Best Printing Finishing Options for High-Volume Printing
Contents
Beyond best-in-class productivity, Xerox’s lineup of production printers offers valuable benefits to business owners. In particular, extensive automated finishing options transform high-volume printing projects into holistic document creation workflows. And of course, with so many different printing finishing options available, Xerox’s lineup is quite popular and well used.
Print shops and enterprises making their first foray into the world of production printing typically choose between the Xerox Versant 180 and the Xerox Versant 3100. Both printing presses offer unprecedented power and efficiency at prices that ensure attractive margins.
Both of these printers also offer compatibility with a broad range of finishing options that serve to reduce the amount of operator time spent creating individual documents. This can generate massive value in busy print environments where operator time is in short supply.
With a single exception, the Xerox Versant 180 and the Xerox Versant 3100 are compatible with the same range of finishing options. The only finishing options that are unique to one printing press are the Business Ready Finisher and the Business Ready Finisher with Booklet Maker. These light duty finishers are unique to the Xerox Versant 180.
Customize Your Printing Finishing
In most cases, your business will need a specific set of inline finishing options to meet business demand while delivering value through automation. The following finishing options expand print versatility to meet business needs in a variety of sectors, making them the most likely finishing options for adding value to your workflow.
1. The Xerox Interface Decurler Module
This is the only must-have finishing module for incorporating inline finishing in your workflow. As an interface module, it performs the critical task of enabling communication between the Versant print engine and the rest of your attached inline finishing modules.
In addition to facilitating internal communication, this module also cools and decurls sheets of paper to prepare them for finishing. Cooling and decurling vastly reduces the chance of paper jams occurring in the finishing process. Paper is not a perfectly uniform material, so preparing it for finishing helps to keep individual sheets from sticking or behaving erratically.
2. The Xerox Inserter Finishing Module
If you need to insert pre-printed or blank media into printed documents, the Xerox Inserter Module is the right choice for the job. This module attaches to the output of the Interface Decurler Module and allows for blank media to go through the same trimming, stacking, folding, punching, and stapling processes as the rest of the document.
This module supports up to 250 sheets of paper, between 7.2 x 5.8 inches to 13 x 19.2 inches. It supports uncoated paper weights of between 52 and 350 gsm, and coated paper weights of between 72 and 350 gsm.
3. GBC AdvancedPunch Pro
If you wish to create bound documents, such as notebooks and multi-page reports, you will need a reliable hole puncher. The GBS AdvancedPunch Pro delivers this function as an inline finishing option. It can handle 10 fixed sheet sizes with uncoated weights of between 75 and 300 gsm, or coated paper weights of between 120 and 300 gsm.
Using exchangeable modular punching dies, you can set any of 12 different punch binding styles. Select from between comb, coil, ring, wire, or VeloBind punch styles from the device’s intuitive control panel.
4. Xerox Production Ready Finisher Plus
The Xerox Production Ready Finisher creates stapled sets of documents for the Xerox Versant 3100. it is the equivalent of the Xerox Versant 180’s Business Ready Finisher. This device supports variable-length stapling, with both single and dual stapling options. It has a 100-sheet staple capacity.
The Production Ready Finisher supports uncoated paper weights of between 52 and 350 gsm, or coated paper weights of between 72 and 350 gsm.
