Kelley Create Sponsors Raisbeck Aviation High School’s Green Energy Team

Kelley Create’s mission is to create strategic advantages designed to help our partners grow. As an expanding technology company with offices across the Pacific Northwest, we also want to help our youth in the same capacity, which is why we’re excited to announce the support of the Raisbeck Aviation High School’s Green Energy Team. We’re sponsoring their efforts to build a full-sized, solar-powered car from the ground up and compete in the upcoming national Solar Car Challenge in Dallas on Saturday, July 17th. Our team won the national competition in 2021, so we’re looking to repeat in 2022.

Located in Tukwila, WA, Raisbeck Aviation High School (RAHS) is a nationally ranked STEM public high school in the Highline Public School District, which serves students from 25 districts around the Puget Sound region. RAHS students immerse themselves in a learning environment with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) within the context of aviation and aerospace. In addition to rigorous courses, RAHS students engage in various extracurricular activities and teams, one of those teams being the RAHS Green Energy Team.

RAHS Green Energy Team is a group of young engineers eager to design, build, test, and refine clean, renewable energy technology.

From 2015-18, the team designed and built model wind turbines to compete in the National Kid Wind and the Collegiate Wind Challenges. In 2019-20, the team set their sights on a bigger goal – to build another Solar Car from scratch. Team members specialize in a wide range of disciplines, including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, Aerodynamics, Project Management, Financial Administration, and Outreach.

The annual Solar Car Challenge encourages high school students from around the United States to get involved in science, engineering, and alternative energy. Current student and nephew of Kelley Create employee Scott Reagan, rising sophomore Atticus Caudle, explains. “Last year, our Solar Car Team won the National Solar Car Challenge in Texas. This year, we hope to further our success by redesigning and refining certain elements of our winning car. We are going to integrate the old and new ideas to make a car that will help us reach our goal of bringing home the championship for the second year in a row.”
