Unveiling Special Talents: Hey Mr. DJ!
Everyone on our Kelley team has deep business solutions expertise to serve you. And they have extra special talents they share. We’ve got two Kelley team members who love music and spread the joy of DJing! Ryan Benscoter, Service Technician in Yakima, WA, and Jacob Thielen, Help Desk Technician in Bozeman, MT.
What inspired you to do DJ work as a side hustle?
RYAN: My inspiration to become a DJ started with the love of music and entertaining people. My first gig was for my family’s wedding in 2010 with my dad’s home system. I am blessed to have sustained this side hustle for over ten years by only word of mouth.
JACOB: I started to really get into DJing when I was in 9th grade. Fast forward to university, I attended Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. I had the opportunity to DJ boat parties in the summers and even worked on the weekend to DJ weddings. I have continued to DJ ever since.
What’s your favorite event type?
RYAN: My favorite events are weddings because it’s a big day for the couple, and wedding guests are always ready to have a good time.
JACOB: Most of my events right now are weddings. They are always a lot of fun, but some can be stressful. My goal is to get the job done right, and I don’t want to mess anything up for the bride (and groom).
What’s your favorite event hype song?
RYAN: Depends on the party that I am doing. But I always seem to get a good reaction to “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison or “This Is How We Do It” by Montel Jordan.
JACOB: “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)” by ABBA — This song is always a crowd-pleaser and always gets amazing reactions.
How can we find you?
RYAN: No website or social media. I’m pleased with how much business I get through word of mouth. DJing is something I do on the side on weekends when I am available. Many people have told me I should promote my DJ business, but my answer is always the same. I am a father first!
JACOB: Find me on Instagram: @djtitan80.
