Xerox VersaLink Comparison (C405, C505, C605, C700) – Which is the Best For Your Business?
Xerox VersaLink printers are the go-to color, multifunction device lineup for small to mid-sized offices that need to share print, copy, and scan efficiently.
Utilizing ConnectKey technology, all Xerox VersaLink C-Series printers offer an intuitive user experience, mobile and cloud connectivity, benchmark security, and custom workflow integration. You can use these printers to print directly from Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, DropBox, and more. You can copy, email, and scan documents directly from the device using its intuitive touchscreen interface.
For many offices, the ability to streamline the multi-user print experience is the main driving force behind purchasing a VersaLink multifunction device.
However, the C-Series is not a small product line. It includes everything from the small-office VersaLink C405 to the enterprise-ready VersaLink C7030. Choosing the right printer for your office size and expected print volume is key to making the most cost-conscious decision.
Office print process owners looking for the right-sized color multifunction printer need to assess potential products by the expected number of users who will share the device. After that, further narrow down the search by comparing Xerox recommended monthly print volume with your expected workload.
Xerox VersaLink Comparison
To better inform our customers, we’ve listed each of the Xerox C-Series multifunction printers alongside their intended monthly print volumes and ideal user counts below.
NOTE: There are many different types of printers, and these are different Xerox printers, including production, digital, wide-format, and more. What we’re comparing here are just the VersaLink printers.
C405
This small color multifunction printer is ideal for small office work teams.
The VersaLink C405 performs best in work environments where only two or three users share access to it, although it can reasonably support up to ten. Its recommended monthly print volume is 5,000 pages per month, but it can reasonably accommodate up to 80,000 pages on a temporary basis. It can be useful as an executive office printer in departments where the majority of employees use a different, larger printer.
C505
The VersaLink C505 is a large step above the C405 in terms of print capacity.
It can effectively handle up to 8,000 pages per month, going up to 120,000 images per month at its absolute maximum capacity. This makes it an ideal multifunction device for work teams of between 5 and 15 users. It also features Wi-Fi connectivity as a standard feature, unlike the C405.
C605
A faster, higher-capacity printer than the C505, this multifunction printer is ideal for teams of between 10 and 20 users.
The VersaLink C605 can reasonably accommodate monthly print volumes on the order of 15,000 pages per month. It features a 250 GB productivity kit and prints both color and monochrome pages at a quick 55 page-per-minute rate. The included document handler accommodates paper sizes from 5.5 x 5.5 inches to 8.5 x 14 inches.
C-7000
The C-7000 Series includes the C7020, C7025, and C7030 multifunction devices.
Overall, the VersaLinkC-7000 are enterprise-level printers with monthly print volumes ranging from 5,500 to 6,250 and 7,000 pages per month, respectively. This is less than the average print volume of the C605, but the C-7000 Series can create higher resolution prints – up to 1200 x 2400 DPI, and supports A3-sized tabloid prints.
This printer’s capacity makes it ideal for teams of up to 15 users, particularly those that require higher quality prints and document finishing functionality.
The Best Xerox VersaLink Printers
As the product specifications show, the leading office color printer in terms of pure monthly print volume is the C605. Its high-speed print capacity makes it ideal for in-house print jobs for medium-sized teams that need to share print resources to create regular-sized documents.
Smaller office teams that need to generate world-class documentation in a broader range of sizes will get more use out of the VersaLink C-7000 Series. This may be the best option for business units creating client-facing documentation and sales brochures, where the higher print quality may be more valuable than increased print volume capacity.
Some offices may elect to combine devices for a unified multi-printer solution. ConnectKey technology allows multiple departments and user groups to share print network resources among multiple printers with ease. The ConnectKey interface lets individual employees manage complex print networks with ease, by making each device readily identifiable while asserting user privileges according to supervisor-established protocols.
If your office has a monthly print volume in excess of 15,000 pages per month, a high-performance WorkCentre printer may be preferable to the VersaLink product line.
